The feature film Nayaab will hit theaters on January 26

A feature film based on the story of a female cricketer joining the national team, Nayaab will hit theaters on January 26.

The new Urdu feature film Nayyab has been well received with trailer and parts. The film will hit theaters across Pakistan on Friday, January 26.

The film starred Yamuna Zaidi, Osama Khan, Fawad Khan, Javed Sheikh and Huma Nawab in lead roles.

This is the first film of Yemeni Zaidi and Osama Khan who are popular on television.

Javed Sheikh has long been known as a TV and film legend. Yamona Zaidi played the role of a cricket loving girl very well.

The film's director Umeer Nasir says that Nayaab revolves around a cricket-crazy girl who wants to join the national team.

He said that the girl's father was against her hobby, but her brother was very supportive.

Review

The focus is on aspiring cricketer 'Nayab' as she tries to secure a place in the Pakistan national cricket team. Her brother and her coach are there too; played by Mohammad Fawad Khan and her father; played by Javed Sheikh who wants her to give up her stupid dream. The film also stars Mohammad Ehteshamuddin, Huma Nawab and Adnan Siddiqui.

Nayab offers the masses a very different film than we are used to. The exuberant tone would normally be reserved for an Eid release, but thankfully it's coming out in January next year. It's well shot, well lit, and has enough production values to attract viewers who want to show their families something of quality. Moreover, it is a family film with a great message: "Let your daughters dream."

There have been films made on women cricketers and sportswomen in general. Just across the border in India, Taapsee Pannu starred in Shaabash Mithu, about India's legendary cricket captain Mithali Dorai Raj. Anushka Sharma is also producing and starring in a film titled Chakda Xpress, about Jhulan Goswami, one of the greatest bowlers in the world.

However, Nayab is not based on one cricketer from Pakistan. Her story will likely be inspired by the struggles of several girls struggling to get into the game in a still very conservative society. There is also a subplot about the current waves of migration from Pakistan to other countries and how much the promise of success is actually worth.
